“Fashion is not just the clothes, nice dresses and bags, the mix and match and all but Fashion is Culture.”
“You can tell a person’s culture base on the way he/she dresses up. Its not judgement nor stereotype, but its image. You have to let your clothes to speak for you. ”
Project Runway Philippines’ first Muslim designer Fatima Guerrero opened the the Hari Raya Show in her neon color blocking pieces veiled in printed headpieces which gained the attention of the crowd.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims. Hari Raya literally means ‘celebration day’, and Hari Raya Aidilfitri is the day that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of dawn-to-sunset fasting.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri is considered one of the two most important celebrations for Muslims, the other being Hari Raya Haji – the festival of Abraham’s sacrifice.-
Part of the celebration is a Muslim Fashion Show, where they should interpret the theme “Rediscover Bangsamoro” in Muslim traditional costumes, to Muslim inspired styling and designs.
Its my first time to watch a Muslim Fashion Show but I really enjoyed it, I love the styling- the layering, the flowiness of the fabric, and most of all theculture itself, it makes you more curious whats inside, mysteriously unveiling.
It is indeed a modern take in Muslim fashion, covered but gorgeous, loud but sophisticated, big but shapy.
Congratulations to our Muslim brothers and sisters! 🙂
