UNOde50 was founded in the late 1990s by a group of designers who resolved to establish a brand of fashion jewellery and accessories that would break all existing moulds. The project was based on the creation of jewels with a unique and distinctive style, which soon became known for their flair and innovation.

This fusion of tradition and modernity was the breeding ground for a new and different brand, steeped in a spirit of craftsmanship and signalling exclusivity through its design and quality. The brand started out with the original and exclusive philosophy of creating only 50 units of each design, thereby supplying the trademark name. This unorthodox approach soon proved an unqualified success.

Common Thread: All Things Special

Bensimon

Bensimon

Life is in the details; The small things make it so much more interesting.

Written along the walls of their brightly lit and color splashed stores in Singapore, Malaysia and now in the Philippines. Common Thread shares an unspoken story of how everything you own is an extension of you you are. Each person’s unique sense of style, personal preferences – from the pieces he or she chooses to how he or she wears them – tells of a personal tale that binds him or her to a universal desire to express his or her story through fashion.

Bensimon

Bensimon

Common Thread cultivates these individual style stories by offering hand-picked collections of “style anchors”- essentials that you will always reach for because they complete your style story. Common Thread believes that style should be effortless, vibrant, creative and most of all personal.
Common Thread DSC_8438Fashion Ate The Lawyer

But Common Thread is more that just style, with the evolution of today’s fashion, style has moved from more than one’s look but also of how she lives out her lifestyle. Common Thread does not only represent function but also reflect a lifestyle hinged on a cool, confident attitude. Offering a bevy of classic pieces and varying accessories.

Thread 360

My favorite Thread 365

Common Thread advocates a fun and care-free lifestyle, featuring heritage brands such as Havaianas from Brazil, Bensimon from France, K-Way from Italy, along with premium jeans and eyewear brands, Levi’s and Rayban. Up-and-Comers and undiscovered labels from all over the world: Praiaz, Allegrina, Thread 365, Hoola, and local brands in specified markets are also part of the merchandizing mix.

lokk of Style Awards 2013 1462940_10202570104515136_780868187_n

A partnership between Inquirer Lifestyle, the British
Council, and LOOK Magazine, the LOOK Of Style Awards welcomes Star World as co-presenter of the annual nationwide design competition that helped jump-start the careers of Pablo Cabahug (2010), Geof Gonzales (2011), and Roland Alzaté (2012).

‘GROWN BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS’

“Since its inception in 2010, the LOOK of Style Awards has grown by leaps and bounds,” says Ana Tan, program and PR manager, British Council. “Every year, there is evidence of how the partnership between the British Council, LOOK Magazine, and the Philippine Daily Inquirer has not only showcased talent from both the Philippines and the UK but has contributed to the growth and support for the Philippine fashion industry.”

“It’s always exciting to discover new talent and to contribute to the career development of the next generation’s designers,” adds LOOK Magazine editor- in-chief Carmencita S. Sioson. “This year, LOOK and Inquirer Lifestyle, under the auspices of the British Council, and with Star World as co-presenter, continue to support emerging designers not only in the field of fashion design, but also of accessories design. As we hope to create a significant impact on the fashion industry, we’ve made LOOK of Style Awards 2013 even more exciting with leading industry professionals as our finalists’ mentors.”

For this year’s chosen theme, Pinoy Goes Global, finalists must present the new generation’s take on Filipiniana veering away from the traditional and make use of local fabrics and sewing techniques that will show their design’s potential for mainstream fashion.

9 finalists in the apparel category and 12 finalists in the accessories category were selected from successful go-sees in Davao, Cebu, and Manila.

The Stylist is now a Brand: Jenni Epperson for The Ramp Crossings

the ramp01-IMG_85022013

Long before being a stylist was the occupation du jour, Jenni Epperson was already running around, sourcing and styling for commercial shoots and fashion editorials. Like any true visionary impassioned with her craft, she has evolved and explored roles: lifestyle blogger, magazine editor, tv host, author and now – designer of her eponymous brand. Jenni teams up her flair for stylish living with Manila’s loved home and fashion hub, The Ramp Crossings and created the country’s first lifestyle pop up store: Jenni Epperson for The Ramp Crossings

Calling her initial collection “Rise and Shine,” Jenni Epperson for The Ramp Crossings is for the definitive multi-tasking modern woman whose tasks and roles vary throughout the day. And so the line’s key pieces will have one greeting the day in coral-inspired print chiffon tunic with gold coral embroidery to serving afternoon tea with the ladies from a gold lattice bar cart to seizing the night in knee-high sculptured heeless gladiators. Keeping everything transitional and multi-purpose was a key concern for Jenni. And so the collection’s highlights include reversible throw pillows, bar carts that can double as side tables or tea trolleys, pretty trays that serve as table decorative piece and uber chic clothes that can take you from the city to seashore and even the club!

THE RAMP X JENNI EPPERSON 143-IMG_85192013

the ramp01-the ramp 12013

The home and fashion line is also peppered with her signature print – Zebra- and played up with gold highlights. She enthuses, “The collection is not only fun and flattering. It’s very cohesive.” Jenni claims that her vision was to create a brand with pieces that not only complement each other but one that also keeps up with your lifestyle. “The jersey caftans are so versatile, just put on strappy flats and you can run around the day in them and just replace them with the gladiators and metallic clutch for a night out.” As for the home collection, Jenni’s main offering is the formerly elusive luxe bar cart and supplemented by Coral and Zebra themed home accessories such as reversible throw pillows, glazed hand-painted trays and coasters, gold hammered metal candelabra and napkin rings. Xandra Ramos-Padilla, General Manager of Crossings says, “The team was excited to start on this collaboration because Jenni’s not only an established figure in our industry but she’s also become a pioneer and tastemaker for those who want their style to be evident beyond their closets and into their homes.”

XOXO Accessories Now Open!

Last July 6, I attended the XOXO store opening at Ayala Town Center, and was surprised by their press kit!
Because they allowed us to choose any product from the store from the cheapest to the most expensive!!
I got a huge bag from them! hahaha Gave it to Mom. 🙂

Aside from the generous press kit, I got the chance to interview the people behind XOXO and their general manager Ms. Techie Tabuena on what to expect with the new XOXO store. (Watch the video I made. 🙂 )

Usually its Apparel+Accessories, but now the store opens for bunch of XOXO accessories! It’s like a haven for sophisticated ladies around the metro especially Alabang.

Check out and be pumped up with their coolest collections of Accessories at ATC, Upper Ground Floor, Expansion building, I am sure a big smile will welcome you.

xoxo!
