Philippine Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014

Giving new meaning to summery prints, designs reminiscent of blooming, tropical fields took center stage in Penshoppe’s casual wear line-up for both men and women. Floral and leafy patterns graciously softened otherwise boxy structures of loose-fitting pieces also included in the anthology. Add in a refreshing twist to color-blocking—putting together cool and delicate hues of pink, blue, and green—and the result was a welcome amalgamation of radical yet current looks for the season.

Clearly, its Spring/Summer 2014 presentation showed the label’s attempt to take on a bolder style standpoint. “With this collection, Penshoppe really went all-out to bare its take on the sunny season,” Bascon pointed out. “But the underlying goal still is to stay true to the global fashion movement; while, at the same time, give way to local and practical relevance. For instance, comfort is still a key consideration in all our designs and an element that is never compromised, given our tropical climate.”

He concluded, “Penshoppe’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection is definitely very relevant, very ‘now’. By presenting the season’s latest prints, hues, and silhouettes in a new light, we offer refreshing ways for the wearer to amp up his or her wardrobe. Ultimately, though, the goal is for them to be able to ‘wear’ their unique style sense and let the clothes enhance or convey it in a season-appropriate manner.”

Indeed, with its latest repertoire, Penshoppe has undoubtedly taken Spring/Summer 2014 out for a bold and exciting spin—and every style-setter is invited to join the ride.

SOLENN HEUSAFF For COLLECTION: A UK Make Up Brand Now in PH

One of the biggest make up brands from the UK, Collection, has finally come to Manila and the stylista crowd clamored for the latest must-haves for the fashionably adventurous. Collection launched its products with a bang with the season’s fanciest and quirkiest trends in makeup.

The Rockwell Tent was transformed into a colourful London high street. British music and images that are distinctive of the UK added to the edgy atmosphere, like the iconic red phone booth, the Grenadier Guards, and the Union Jack.

Anglophiles and fashion mavens arrived in a multitude of colours to represent Collection’s wide range of hues. Model and socialite Nicole Andersson kicked off the event looking stunning in Collection makeup, and introduced Mario Salvatori, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Donna Dewhurst, the Regional Brand Manager of Collection.

Inspired by the makeup which she incorporated in her own signature ethereal fashion and elegant pastel chic, brand ambassador Camille Co led a display of the makeup brand’s versatility. She was followed by Techno Aztec inspired Laureen Uy, who came with a distinctly hiphop vibe. The style bloggers were absolutely brilliant as their individual personalities shone through, enhanced by their favorite colours from their must have makeup brand – Collection. The party roared as actress Solenn Heusaff swaggered onstage in sultry rocker style. Manila’s it-girl wowed the crowd in her haute makeup.

The Stylist is now a Brand: Jenni Epperson for The Ramp Crossings

Long before being a stylist was the occupation du jour, Jenni Epperson was already running around, sourcing and styling for commercial shoots and fashion editorials. Like any true visionary impassioned with her craft, she has evolved and explored roles: lifestyle blogger, magazine editor, tv host, author and now – designer of her eponymous brand. Jenni teams up her flair for stylish living with Manila’s loved home and fashion hub, The Ramp Crossings and created the country’s first lifestyle pop up store: Jenni Epperson for The Ramp Crossings

Calling her initial collection “Rise and Shine,” Jenni Epperson for The Ramp Crossings is for the definitive multi-tasking modern woman whose tasks and roles vary throughout the day. And so the line’s key pieces will have one greeting the day in coral-inspired print chiffon tunic with gold coral embroidery to serving afternoon tea with the ladies from a gold lattice bar cart to seizing the night in knee-high sculptured heeless gladiators. Keeping everything transitional and multi-purpose was a key concern for Jenni. And so the collection’s highlights include reversible throw pillows, bar carts that can double as side tables or tea trolleys, pretty trays that serve as table decorative piece and uber chic clothes that can take you from the city to seashore and even the club!

The home and fashion line is also peppered with her signature print – Zebra- and played up with gold highlights. She enthuses, “The collection is not only fun and flattering. It’s very cohesive.” Jenni claims that her vision was to create a brand with pieces that not only complement each other but one that also keeps up with your lifestyle. “The jersey caftans are so versatile, just put on strappy flats and you can run around the day in them and just replace them with the gladiators and metallic clutch for a night out.” As for the home collection, Jenni’s main offering is the formerly elusive luxe bar cart and supplemented by Coral and Zebra themed home accessories such as reversible throw pillows, glazed hand-painted trays and coasters, gold hammered metal candelabra and napkin rings. Xandra Ramos-Padilla, General Manager of Crossings says, “The team was excited to start on this collaboration because Jenni’s not only an established figure in our industry but she’s also become a pioneer and tastemaker for those who want their style to be evident beyond their closets and into their homes.”
