With years of trend-setting expertise behind it, Philippine Fashion Week has evolved into the certified launch pad for both local and international fashion, beauty, entertainment, and lifestyle brands. Aside from providing its diverse audience a preview of up-to-the-minute fashion trends that combine style and function, Philippine Fashion Week aims to be the catalyst that propels the country into the global fashion arena.

Lee SS 2014: Stay Curious

Lee

Lee SS 2014

Lee Spring-Summer 2014 collection highlights the power of curiosity

There is power that lies in curiosity. It is the force that drives artists to try new ways of creating art to discover their own style. People find exciting destinations by turning an unfamiliar corner. These are just some of the reasons why everyone chooses to Stay Curious.

It is this exact passion to explore new territories that denim brand Lee harnessed during the Lee Jeans Philippine Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2014 show where it showcased denim innovations to mark its 125th year of superb craftsmanship, once again pushing boundaries while staying true to its proud heritage.

The SM Mall of Asia Atrium was transformed to simulate the streets of New York and put the audience at the heart of the scene. The audience is left curious as the models walked the runway though unexpected synchronicity, turning corners, to give everyone a closer look of the collection’s detail. Pieces that highlight denim engineering and elevate the structure of jeans were presented, together with colorful pieces inspired by digital technology. The collection also showcased Union Made Lee101+ which celebrates the brand’s signature denim pieces.

The Lee Stretch Deluxe was also unveiled, featuring jeans made of quality Italian fabric with an improved stretch ability and an enhanced shape recovery for an even leaner and flattering fit.

Watch out for more denim innovations at Lee Concept stores. Stay curious!

Make Your Own Havaianas 2013 Presents You + Havaianas:
The Search for the Next Big Havaianas Collaboration

It’s that time of the year again when the vibrant spirit of the world’s favorite flip-flops brand, Havaianas, allows everyone to revel in the ultimate celebration of self-expression—Make Your Own Havaianas!

Much of the thrill that comes with the annual Make Your Own Havaianas is the way it lets everyone’s creativity run wild, while at the same time, seizing these concepts and embedding them in soles to last. For the fete of creativity, Havaianas further cements its stand as it dares all Havaianaticos to immerse themselves in a more vibrant experience in this year’s Make Your Own Havaianas.

When Two Worlds Come Together
As a world-renowned brand distinguished for being an advocate of fun-fashion and self-expression, Havaianas has always been open to collaborations when it comes to its designs. The brand continues to coincide with the individual charm and personality of several noted icons the world over, hence, parallel ideals and imageries were ceaselessly developed—bringing the energy of the worlds of fashion, sports and art into one melting point.
Rewinding to a few years back, Havaianas rode the waves of Australian surf star and style master Luke Stedman for psychedelic tie-die designs that mirrored the vigor of the oceans. Short after, the iconic footwear was given a clean, minimalist makeover when it collaborated with famed New York designer, Michael Bastian.

In 2012, to celebrate Mother’s Day, Havaianas revealed an exclusive collection designed by Hollywood celebrity moms Courteney Cox, Nina Garcia, Rebecca Romijn, and Tori Spelling for Baby Buggy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing families in need of essential products and educational services for their children. Havaianas did not stop there, as in the same year, the boundless joy and energy inherent to the brand was intensified when it collaborated with Italian fashion house Missoni for punchy-patterned flip-flops that became everyone’s ticket to summer.

Taking Collaboration a Notch Up

This year, Havaianas proudly introduces its collaboration with Filipino illustrator and Havaianatico Dan Matutina for the first Make Your Own Havaianas glow-in-the-dark commemorative pair. Dan Matutina + Havaianas, available in carbon blue sole, features spacemen with space markers connecting the stars to form images—representing how Havaianas enables everyone’s creativity and imagination to take off to greater heights.
In the ultimate celebration of self-expression that every Havaianatico has come to know, Havaianas will be intensifying this year’s Make Your Own Havaianas experience by recognizing everyone’s creativity through You + Havaianas.

You + Havaianas is the brand’s first major crowdsourcing contest where everyone will be given the chance to submit a winning design, which will become a limited edition style for the 2014 Havaianas Collection.

You + Havaianas is launched on-ground together with Make Your Own Havaianas on May 2-5, 2013 at the Rockwell Tent, with simultaneous executions in Laoag, Subic, Batangas, Naga, Cebu, Bacolod, Boracay, CDO and Davao.

Banana Republic Mad Men Spring 2013 Launch

MAD FOR MOD: BANANA REPUBLIC’S “MAD MEN” COLLECTION RETURNS WITH A MOD-INSPIRED CAPSULE FOR SPRING 2013

In response to consumer demand following the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 Banana Republic ‘Mad Men’ collections, Banana Republic launches its third collaboration with a line of mod-ready wear inspired by the AMC show, Spring of this year.

Designed by Banana Republic in collaboration with Emmy® Award-winning Costume Designer for “Mad Men,” Janie Bryant, the collection takes its inspiration from costumes featured in the show, reflecting the mod vibe of the late ‘60s. The capsule moves away from the Camelot era’s early ‘60s look and into the late ‘60s mod fashions. Spring’s collection incorporates fresh bold prints, bright colors and new silhouettes, all demonstrated through the versatile and instantly wearable Banana Republic lens.

“With a new era of fashion inspiration, the design process was exciting for us and allowed for lots of creativity, which is completely visible in the end result,” said Simon Kneen, Banana Republic Creative Director and Executive Vice President. “We took Janie’s mod inspiration for the costumes on-screen and translated it in a way that today’s Don or Megan will aspire to wear.”

The Banana Republic design team, led by Kneen, worked closely with Bryant to ensure the capsule reflected key style elements from the series. Behind the scenes, Bryant kicked off the design process by sharing her favorite costumes. Key influences include Joan’s form-fitting silhouette pieces, Megan’s shift dresses in psychedelic prints and bold colors, Peggy’s matching accessories, and Megan’s youthful effect on Don’s classically traditional wardrobe.

The menswear collection includes bold plaids and stripes, the emergence of the sport coat, and the sophisticated suit for the boardroom. The women’s collection celebrates color, print and pattern in iconic items like the era’s popular shift dress with shorter hemlines, keyhole details, and checked capris. Accessories include graphic scarves, and geometric jewelry for women along with skinny ties for men, which complete the look with a nod to the time period while relating to modern runway trends seen for spring 2013.

“In my work with Simon for the Banana Republic ‘Mad Men’ Spring 2013 collection, the spirit and fashion-forward thinking we see on-screen in Megan was really inspirational for the capsule,” said Bryant. “I am excited about what we’ve done together, and I know that Banana Republic customers and ‘Mad Men’ fans are going to be thrilled with our new collection this spring.”
