Celebrate the Streets of Brazil with Make Your Own Havaianas 2014
Ever wondered how festive and vibrant the streets of Brazil are with its lively parties, vibrant colors, infectious dances and adrenaline-pumping street football games? Truly a cultural melting pot of ethnicities, Brazil has cultivated this very colorful and lively street culture that has thrived and infected others who have been witnesses to this amazing atmosphere.
And while we may not all have the privilege to sneak a peek and experience the streets of Brazil, Havaianas returns to its roots by bringing Brazil to the Philippines through Make Your Own Havaianas 2014! With its Launch Party happening May 6, 2014 at the Glorietta Activity Center, Make Your Own Havaianas kicks off with a festive Brazilian street party in true Havaianas style, as they invited guests in their colorful carnaval-inspired outfits and engaged them in activities such as personalized wish ribbons or “bonfims“, rousing performances by the Brazilian performance community and of course, making their very own Havaianas styles were available for every attendee.
With the eclectic mix representing the Brasilipinas community, the groups of Brigada, Escola Samba de Manila, Escola Brasileira de Capoeira, Imperatriz Filipinense Samba School, and Futkaleros gave us a true reflection of the streets of Brazil through their stimulating and moving performances through elaborate costumes, stirring music and passionate moves.
But the real thrill in Make Your Own Havaianas came in the ability to mix and match everything: from the soles and the straps, to color combinations inspired by street art, and to the fun limited edition pins – all exhibiting the spirit of Brazil. As a highlight for the ninth year of this event, a 200-year old tradition from Brazil was the inspiration behind this year’s commemorative pair featuring colorful Bonfims — Brazilian wish ribbons that are worn for good luck. The print wishes every wearer Alegria, Diversao, Empolgacao, Euforia, and Felicidade or Joy, Amusement, Excitement, Euphoria and Bliss – true to the Havaianas always summer spirit.
Brand Development Group Director Ammiel De Leon said,
“The streets of Brazil are a free-flowing and spontaneous back and forth of festive cheer, very evident with its people”
As the ultimate activity for celebration of self-expression, Havaianas encourages everyone to be as daring as the Brazilians when customizing their flip-flops.
“Brazilian culture is all about self expression, and not being ashamed of how vividly you express it.” Anne Gonzalez, Terry SA Managing Director adds as well.
This year’s event is made even bigger and more accessible. At the heart of Makati, Make Your Own Havaianas 2014 takes place in its new home at the Glorietta Activity Center from May 8 (Thursday) to 11 (Sunday), 2014 open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM on weekdays, and 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekends. There is no entrance fee so everyone is welcome to customize their own Havaianas and celebrate the streets of Brazil.
As you enter the streets of Brazil in this year’s Make Your Own Havaianas, make sure to see, feel and experience the vibe and joy through Havaianas and unleash that inner Brazilian in you.

Move to the beat of Confidence
Rexona: Do the Moves with Sarah Geronimo, Apl De Ap, Enrique Gil & Elmo Magalona
This generation’s troop of teens are constantly tuned in to what’s hip, and in the recent weeks there’s been a fresh new song that has been tickling their fancy. You may have heard it on the radio, on your favorite music channel, on blogs, or you may have come across a tweet or two about it.
Do The Moves, the new single featuring Sarah Geronimo, Apl.de.Ap, Enrique Gil and Elmo Magalona, is definitely a song that will make you get on your feet and dance to the beat. More than anything, however, it carries a strong and inspiring message that aims to empower today’s generation— on confidence and self expression.
Confidence, doing more and staying fresh are what Rexona has been inspiring individuals to do. For teens, amidst battling insecurities and growing pains, confidence is most essential. Rexona’s new Do More endorsers Sarah, Apl, Enrique and Elmo, will play a huge part in being role models to Filipino teens today. By encouraging people to join their movement with this song, they will be able to excite teens to dance, express themselves and do more. This is especially relevant because it’s a really good way for teens to be active this summer.
“We wanted to impart the importance of daily hygiene to teens in a fun and exciting way,” said Corazo.
Utilizing dance as a vehicle to drive a strong commitment to proper personal care, Rexona created dance moves which they coined “pa simple moves” as a simple and fun way for teens to check that they are always dry and fresh.
Corazo said, “This comes from the insight that people do check their underarms subtly, or the term pa-simple in Filipino.”
Together with this initiative, Rexona is also planning to launch the country’s biggest Teen Dance Competition, which will involve on-going dance tours, an audition process, elimination rounds and a finale pegged to commence in July.
The Do More endorsers believe in honing the passions of the youth to inspire them to be confident. Self-expression in whatever form is essential in order to reach one’s goals and aspirations. Sarah has expressed her excitement to collaborate with Rexona as she shares the same values and advocacies of the brand. Through Rexona, Sarah believes that teens can develop confidence and express themselves.
Rexona provides unbeatable protection from sweat and odor so that you can Do More confidently. With Rexona confidence, teens will feel like nothing can hold them back from doing more, and most importantly have fun with their barkada.
