Style Origin 2014: MENSWEEK

Mensweek 2014 style origin018 Fashion Ate The Lawyer 2014

MENSWEEK opened Ayala Mall’s annual fashion celebration presenting 33 Filipino designers with 33 looks of different aesthetics.

It was very forward and pure wow to see today’s generation with full of creativity and newness in style inspired  from the streets of Tokyo to Milan,  pastel and neon to monochrome, cottons and neoprenes to embellished and from textures to prints.

NESCIENCE by LEVENSON RODRIGUEZ

Levenson Rodriguez Nescience Collection Look 12

What is the art of living, if not leaving in art per se? From every moment in every place and time, a good ensemble will make a difference. The visual language of the men’s dressing up in usual are so boring, and men’s fashion plain as it seem but very complicated and yet exciting.

Inspired  from everyone’s feeling burn out one way or another. When everything that comes your way doesn’t seems to make sense. When situations are just hard to explain- Levenson Rodriguez Nescience Collection is about standing out professionally and advancing in modernity.
Levenson Rodriguez Nescience Collection Look 8

“Men should go for printed tops and suits to stand out from the usual plain blues and greys of the world.  Standing out from the crowd gives one the upper hand in almost everything. “

“Building up a remarkable archive of a period in printed inner shirts of 3 women who defied life’s challenges. When the world doesn’t seem to agree with them they held their heads up high and are all now an icon/legend in their own right.”

“It takes a lot of confidence for one to wear a double breasted suit. But once he does then it only shows that he got the world in his hands. After all we roughly have 3 seconds to leave a lasting expression. Might as well make it worth the while. “ –Levenson Rodriguez

2014 Colour: PINK. PAPER. PLAY.

PINK PAPER PLAY 022014 copy

Suit and button down Levenson Rodriguez; shoes Gucci

Happy New Year dear readers!

As my first post for 2014, it is important (but not always) to know whats in trend for the color of the year.

Following 2013’s Emerald Green, Pantone is suggesting Radiant Orchid  as the shade that summarises the overall colour trends of 2014.

The rosy pink (aka Pantone 18-3224) represents a healthy glow, making projects that use it appear more energetic, says Pantone. The colour system developer sees it being combined with reds for a seductive look, or accented with similar shades of lavender, purple and pink – or contrasted with deep greens or turquoise.

PINK PAPER PLAY 032014

Pantone says its sees the colour being used to these ends across fashion, beauty and interiors – as well as advertising, graphic design and art. It notes the colour appears in the spring collections of fashion labels such as Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan, Juicy Couture and Yoana Baraschi.

We’re going to take Pantone’s interpretation with a pinch of salt though, as Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute describes its choice of the 2013 Colour of the Year as a “symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity” – which is an odd thing to apply to a year where the phrase ‘austerity Britain’ was overused to the point of cliché. Philippine Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014

“I have always believed that our life is a blank canvas and we are the artists who put colors on it. And this principle is what I’ve applied while making my Spring/Summer 2014 collection, DenimART. My latest offering is a raw denim repertoire presented in black and silver, as well as bright colors, which I designed specifically for those who want to express themselves through my creations.”

Featured in fashion authority media such as Mega, Preview, Cosmopolitan, Sense & Style, Stylebible and major broadsheets Philippine Daily Inquirer and Manila Bulletin’s Style Weekend, Kaye has staged several fashion shows and has been a contestant in notable fashion competitions, like ETC’s Generation M: The Mega Young Designers Competition 2011, the Triumph Fashion Show and the Bravo Britannia fashion show. Kaye has also participated in prestigious fashion exhibits such as “Rags to Riches” at Greenbelt 5, which has pushed her name further in the realm of couture.

Kaye’s mark of craftsmanship has made her the ultimate choice of big Filipino celebrities. Currently furthering her studies at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. , this lady’s inexhaustible zest to delve into the arts has also lead her to finish a foundation of makeup course in the Makeup Academy in London. With that said, one can only be certain that Kaye’s passion seamlessly flows into her daring designs. Without a doubt, great design is the only thing to be found at Kaye Morales’ atelier on 8862 Madrid Building, Sampaloc St., San Antonio Village, Makati and a promise that you get nothing less than a big fashion statement with an extra edge.

General x Mini Cooper NOT NORMAL Campaign

General x Mini CooperIMG_4120 fashionAtetheLawyer

Taking a Detour

By habit of idealization, a man is appreciated only in his extremes: once at the peak of youth, jocular and full of pep, and once more in his silver years, reverential and wise. But what occurs between these hallmarks— the long and winding transit years– gives us a ture-to-life perspective of the versatility that makes the General man.

General x Mini CooperIMG_4159 fashionAtetheLawyer

Timed with the abruft passing of seasons, this looks at the unpredictability of male trends and how General reins in that quality with finesse. The Curatorship program also takes a curious turn as they proudly welcome the British carmaker Mini to the gentlemen’s table.

Mini lends its inventive spirit to coax out the General man’s dynamic lifestyle. Both names find kinship in their pursuit of heightening the senses- seen in their combined admiration for the volatile disposition of the young, tempered against the anvil of good taste.

This collaboration also makes room for MINI’s lifestyle items in the store. Short of raising Union Jack and adopting a Cockney accent, the influences of the Curatorship add a decidedly British flavor to the General’s menswear collection with apparel, bags, and accessories. Visit the store located at Bonifacio High Street and Robinson’s Magnolia and risk a bit of NOT NORMAL into your style.

The collection boasted tailored angle grazed trousers, tailored dress shirts, hooded Mac coats and knitted sweaters all accompanied with a pop of colour whether it be the colourful boat shoes or loafers, vibrant narrow tie, or slouched string bag. The main colour palette was of a muted sort with the regular appearance of beige, grey and blue and the block colours were often broke up with a stripe or polka dot print.

According to Daze, Christopher Bailey paid homage to the British artist David Hockney for his highly-anticipated return. However, it wasn’t his paintings of Yorkshire landscapes that served as the inspiration – instead it was his pop coloured L.A. series of pool paintings. These works served as the colour palette of a beautifully crafted collection. Bright red ties were worn over yellow shirts – Bailey referencing the stark contrasts of Hockney’s interpretation of California luxury living. There were some bold polka dot print shirts, relaxed knitwear and neon perspex glasses and then came the very British Burberry classics, such as the mac. This collection wasn’t about a big change in style of design for Burberry, instead it was one that left its mark on London – Bailey telling us Burberry is back.
