Making use of the brand’s three shoe lines, Eala demonstrated how seamless it was to infuse Sledgers’ stylish and fashion-forward footwear into the season’s most trendy and tasteful outfits.

 

As guests listened intently to the program, wine and French food was being passed around in true French fashion. Highlighting the event was a champagne toast to the new and reinvented Sledgers – signaling its official foray into fashion.

“Since its inception in 2010, the LOOK of Style Awards has grown by leaps and bounds,” says Ana Tan, program and PR manager, British Council. “Every year, there is evidence of how the partnership between the British Council, LOOK Magazine, and the Philippine Daily Inquirer has not only showcased talent from both the Philippines and the UK but has contributed to the growth and support for the Philippine fashion industry.”

“It’s always exciting to discover new talent and to contribute to the career development of the next generation’s designers,” adds LOOK Magazine editor- in-chief Carmencita S. Sioson. “This year, LOOK and Inquirer Lifestyle, under the auspices of the British Council, and with Star World as co-presenter, continue to support emerging designers not only in the field of fashion design, but also of accessories design. As we hope to create a significant impact on the fashion industry, we’ve made LOOK of Style Awards 2013 even more exciting with leading industry professionals as our finalists’ mentors.”

For this year’s chosen theme, Pinoy Goes Global, finalists must present the new generation’s take on Filipiniana veering away from the traditional and make use of local fabrics and sewing techniques that will show their design’s potential for mainstream fashion.

The winner of the apparel category will receive an all-expense-paid trip to England, to take up a short course of his or her choice at London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, where fashion greats John Galliano, Stella McCartney, and Alexander McQueen are among its famous alumni.

The winner of the accessories category, will also receive an all-expense-paid trip to England to take up a short course of his or her choice at the Sheffield Hallam University.

Aside from these, a silent auction for the benefit of our Typhoon Yolanda victims was held.

through their art, guests can do the same by writing what THEY stand for on the canvas floor, dip their docs in the dirt
area and stomp away in their Docs. The #STANDFORSOMETHING campaign is raw, truthful, unique and won’t stand for
bullshit. The Dr. Martens team presents the exhibit area as directly to the point as possible, no perfect cookie-cutter
exposition.

In celebration of its 18th year, Preview gathered fashion icons and style mavens and transformed Hyve at the W Global Center into a music wonderland for the Preview Best Dressed Ball 2013.

Stylish dancing shoes filled the dance floor as one music genre shifted to another through the beats of DJ Mars Miranda (disco), DJ Funk Avy (top of the pops), and DJ Euric (hip-hop/R&B). International DJ Eclipse of Zouk Singapore was flown in especially for the event. This year’s Preview Ball was a night of musical journey co-presented by CK Eyewear, TRESemmé and Tattoo. Other partners include major sponsor Havaianas and official drink sponsor Belvedere Vodka.

“It’s been quite a while since we’ve had a proper turn on a dance floor, the kind that involves more than just fist-pumping to your favorite song,” Preview Editor-in-Chief Pauline Juan excitedly said about this year’s ball. “Preview turns 18 years old this month, and there is a need to party—to dance and drink amidst good friends and great music.”

Preview also introduced a new twist to this year’s Best Dressed List. “Style is essentially a product of the relationships we build. It is on this premise that we’ve built this year’s Best Dressed List. After eight years of doing the same format, we’ve decided to shake things up a bit by celebrating the relationships that lead to being ‘Best Dressed,’” explained Pauline.

In the spotlight for the Best Dressed List is the high-profile stylist-client relationship of Liz Uy, Vice Ganda, Belle Daza and Bea Alonzo, who also grace the July cover of Preview. Vice Ganda admits that during his second concert, he didn’t want any other stylist other than Liz, who happens to be Preview’s own fashion editor-at-large. Belle wanted to work with Liz, too, whose style she also admires. Bea, on the other hand, met Liz during her first Preview cover. She then requested her to be her personal stylist for the Star Magic Ball and in her other projects.

Where else would young ladies Betina, Selina and Juliana Ocampo get their looks and fashion flair but from mom Tina Maristela-Ocampo? Fashion seems to be in the genes in this family, and Tina is very much proud of her daughters. “The first time I saw Selina and Betina working together, I found it so cute, seeing them putting swatches and beadwork together.”
